Introduction

Welcome! The purpose of this blog is to document my journey as an aspiring instructional designer. I am currently enrolled in my first semester of the Master’s of Education in Education Technology at the University of Arkansas. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in English in 2024, so I haven’t been out of school for too long. However, I am currently working full-time as an Online Student Liaison at the University of Arkansas Global Campus. My day-to-day responsibilities is typically full of interactions with prospective and current online students and assisting them with any questions about programs or the admissions process. While I find my current role fulfilling, I was initially apprehensive about balancing work and graduate school. With at least two weeks of class officially under my belt, I’m feeling much more confident about what’s to come!

My Media and Web Design class has tasked students with creating and maintaining an instructional blog to chart our progress and reflections on the content. I have some experience with websites, as I was tasked with maintaining an organization’s blog through my undergraduate work-study. I only handled the basics, so I’m hoping to learn more throughout the semester, particularly coding. It’ll be nice to look back on this website in the future. I plan to keep the domain and use it to host my portfolio once I start actively searching for positions within the educational technology field.
